Description
Chiropractic Mandatory Reporting of PQRS Codes to Medicare.
MANDATORY reporting of quality measures on Chiropractic claims to Medicare is a somewhat obscure provision of Section 3002 of “The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act”. While the law provides for a start date on the mandate as of 2015, CMS has somewhat downplayed the fact that their payment reduction and penalties that will be assessed in 2015 are ACTUALLY BASED on your reporting participation in 2013.
The “fine print” here is that “Providers must successfully participate in PQRS for the previous two years to avoid the payment decreases that start in 2015 and continue thereafter. You need to start in 2013 to avoid those 1.5% 2015 penalties and continue to report each year to avoid the 2% losses for 2016 and beyond.”
The PQRS is a “permanent program requirement” and therefore you need to institute your compliant reporting program AND ALSO memorialize it in your compliance policies and training programs for your staff.
It is your responsibility to establish the compliance policy and properly train your providers and staff on this mandatory reporting.
Once Again, We have done it all for you and put it on a CD-ROM!!!
